2021/22 Packing Sessions and Delivery Support

Thank you for considering being a volunteer for Weekend Survival Kits! WSK is a partner agency of Greater Lansing Food Bank.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Food Kit Packer – You will be assembling food kits with a team of volunteers. Normally this job consists of an assembly line style process of packing food into zip top bags and then grouping them for storage until Thursday’s pick-up. However, in the age of COVID, many things have changed and sessions might look different than they have in the past. Thank you for staying patient with us as we figure out the best way to serve our kids. You will be standing and/or moving the entire time. (Note: There are a few light duty tasks if you have physical limitations.)

Food Kit Mover – You will be assisting the Delivery Drivers by loading food kits into their vehicles. Dress in layers as this is both an indoor and outdoor activity. You will be standing and/or moving the entire time.

Volunteer events are at hosted at TWO locations in the Greater Lansing Area.

1) OKEMOS - Community Center of 2|42 Church in Okemos, address is 2630 Bennett Rd. (one driveway west of the church), the building with the green roof.

2) LANSING - Hill Center, address is 5815 Wise Rd. (use the North entrance, come around the outer drive, pass all the police cars and fencing, all the way to the greenhouses near the dumpsters/loading dock, WSK entrance will be labeled)
